# 10 of Top 10 Most Embarrassing Life Moments

Somehow, over the course of my life, I have embarrassed myself more times than anyone else I know. Or maybe it's just that I don't mind laughing at myself so I share these experiences with others. I decided that my "I wish I could just disappear" moments might prove amusing for you all, so I've waded through them and come up with the Top 10 Most Embarrassing.  I'll post a new one every day for ten days.  Feel free to respond with your own disconcerting moments...It'll probably make me feel better.

#10. Wrong Guy at The Drive-Thru

I starting working at Wendy's when I was 16, and stayed through much of college.  One night, a couple of years after high school graduation, I was stationed at the drive-thru window when a guy I knew from Highland High showed up at the window.
When I leaned out to collect his money I said, with much enthusiasm, "How are you?  Oh my gosh, I haven't seen you in forever! What have you been up to?"
His answers were vague as he looked for the cash to pay for his order, and when he turned toward me to hand over the money the light fell full on his face. I realized with a sick feeling in my stomach that he was not who I thought.
I wasn't about to let that get me down, or admit I'd mistaken him for someone else, so I just grinned and said, "Okay, I'll get that right out to you." As I closed the window I saw him turn to the girl in the passenger seat and shrug his shoulders.
A few moments later I passed him out his food and drinks and said, "It was so good to see you again,  say hi to your folks for me!"

    1. Yeah, when even your boyfriend thinks I'm you, and my mother sees a picture of you at a dance and asks where I got the dress, I think you can say we looked alike!

  2. Sure it was embarrassing for you but I imagine the guy was panicking on the inside as he couldn't remember who the girl was that apparently knew who he was.
And yes, I speak from experience.

  3. Jami, that's a great one... I had a similar experience...Scott and I were on a date, a few years after we were married and we went downtown to catch a flick at the Egyptian. We were walking down the sidewalk and saw a guy talking on the phone at the corner phone booth (that dates my story ;). Still holding hands we starting running down the block towards him, calling his name. Just as we got a few feet away, he hung up and turned to face us. Coming to a screeching halt we realized it WASN'T our good friend Richard!!! We abruptly did a 180, and leisurely strolled back to the theater, holding in our giggles and embarrassment until we got in the door, then the laughter burst out with such force I had to take a quick trip to the restroom. I'll never forget the puzzled look on that guys face!
